To Black Bobcats, Ole School Black OU, and all those whose lives he touched: Reverend Buffington passed in November. I just found out, but knew some of you would want to know, so I am sharing this sad news. No words needed really, but if you know, you know. I plan to post reflections at a later date (most likely in the Spring), but until then, Rest in Peace Reverend Buffington. You touched my life, and  personally, I will never forget you.

April, 2025

As a direct result of the newly established federal guidelines relating to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, Black Alumni Weekend , which was originally scheduled for April 10  - 13, has been postponed until further notice.

While I don't  have time to  respond to the cancellation, or basis  for  it,  I   will  briefly respond  to  a  letter issued  by  Craig Trainor, Acting Assistant Secretary at The United  States Department of Education, Office for  Civil  Rights.  More specifically, I 'll  respond to a statement  that Trainor made in the letter , dated February 14, 2025.  In the letter,  addressed  'Dear Colleagues,' Trainor states as follows: "Educational institutions have toxically indoctrinated students with the false premise
that the United States is built upon  systemic and structural racism, and advanced discriminatory policies and practices."

but I beg to differ.

That is,  educational institutions  didn't  "indoctrinate us with the premise that the United  States  is  built upon systemic and structural racism and advanced discriminatory policies and practices."  Instead, our collective history  and experiences as blacks in America, "indoctrinated us with the premise that the United States is built upon systemic and structural racism and advanced discriminatory policies and practices."

Lets face it, America  was built  on the backs of slaves. Now  if that ain't  a  discriminatory practice , I don't know what is.  Its discriminatory, but its  our history.

And considering that  the State of Ohio didnt ratify the XIV Amendment until  March 2003,

Again,  Trainor  if ever there was one.  so, again, lets not git it twisted.  don't  re write history  in 2025, to suggest otherwise.

Click  here  to read  the outrageous letter that was issued by The  Department of  Education Office of Civil  Rights, and  here  for  a link to the universitys announcement regarding the  cancellation of Black Alumni Weekend.

OU  beat Miami 38 - 3 last weekend ,  and  won  the  MAC Championship, which gives a whole new meaning to the phrase... #Muck Fiami.  That said,  I may be  beefin' with the university over the  Mt Zion takeover, but game recognize game. Great job guys.

I musta been spittin knowledge about 'Ohio vs Mt Zion,' because, there would be no other reason to censor me, or block my ability to make and upload audio.

Simply though, and in plain proletariat English, the Ohio Attorney General used the Ohio Attorney Generals office to carry out the coup d'état ( government takeover) at Mt Zion Baptist Church, and, pursuant to ORC 2921.41 A (1) that is a crime.

Clearly however, 'they' need me to stop stating the obvious, and frankly, I can't say that I blame them.

Ohio University has a racist agenda, and always has. We were just too young and uninformed to notice, but I know, because I kept living there and eventually begin to see it for what  it was -- not for what it purported to be.

The take over of Mt Zion is exhibit A of that argument.

Does 'Ohio vs Mt Zion,' and , more specifically, the  states defacing of the church ( ie. removal of the stained glass windows and historic pews etc), constitute a hate crime? Hmmm, I'd say so, but just to be clear,  lets ask Governor Mike DeWine. He filed the case.

Generally speaking tho, and with regard to the governments unlawful takeover of Mt Zion:

I want Mike DeWine and Kristine aka Kristin Hayes criminally charged, pursuant to ORC 2921.41 A (1) , which reads in pertinent part as follows:
(A ) No public official or party official shall commit any theft offense, as defined in division (K) of section 2913.01 of the Revised Code, when the following applies:
(1) The offender uses the offender's office in aid of committing the offense , or permits or assents to its use in aid of committing the offense;

Simply, the government can not have Mt Zion.

And thats just on periodt.

(update: Yes, its a hate crime, but I doubt they will be criminally charged. Simply, after a review of the statute ( see below), charges would have to be brought while the official is still in office, or within two years after they leave office. Since that time line has passed, it looks like they got away with this one, but they can still, and should be, sanctioned).

Ohio vs Mt Zion and the resulting events, constitutes one of the most extreme instances of government mis - conduct  that I have ever witnessed.

Ohio vs Mt Zion is the result of  a white supremist agenda  that is better suited for 1804 than 2024.  Of course, such an agenda had no business being advanced in 1804, but most certainly has no place in 2024.  That said, although various factions  facilitated the takeover,  it is the State  that must, and will be held accountable, because it is the State that commenced the action , and   the  State that ultimately seized control of  Mt Zion in a manner that constitutes theft.

This is no longer about Ohio though. Its about America, and how, in many respects, the progress that we made during the civil rights movement is being reversed.

Athens County boooooy....  as long as you stay in your place or don't kick up too  much dust, you have no problem. Truth be told tho, thats Ohio in general.

Unbelieveable really, but nothing I can go into at this time.

That said, I still marvel at the fact that  the state thinks it can take Mt Zion and keep steppin.  It can not.

Talk about a white supremist agenda tho. Things are definitely out of control.

Unbelieveably  so.

And what surprises me most is how  bold and brazen  it all is.

Guess who no longer works for Ohio University?

Kristin Hayes (aka Kristine Hayes) .... the infamous former Assistant Ohio Attorney General who filed "Ohio vs Mt Zion" in the Athens Court.   Yes,THAT Kristin Hayes, who , most recently had been working as a Civil Rights Investigator for Ohio University.

In any case, it seems 'baby gurl' left her stint at OU some time last month (following one year of service). She now works for Grand River Solutions.

But hey, as far as I'm concerned, she shouldn't be working there either. She should be unemployed, or, in the alternative, let her pick cotton. That should suit her just fine , since a little hard labor never hurt nobody.

One things for sure, when it comes to 'Ohio vs Mt Zion, ' she'll never live it down.

She just THINKS she will.

So, just how far is ya'll  alma mater going to go to block and stonewall my life?   Of course, thats a rhetorical question, but, I ask because, I recently learned from a  credible third party that ya'll alma mater shows me as having been suspended or dismissed from the university. Thats interesting because,  I have no knowledge of  being suspended or dismissed, but if I am showing as being suspended or dismissed, its something they've done recently, because I've been taking courses off and on for years , and , as  such, have often had to have transcripts sent to one school or another, so, how is it that all of a sudden, I'm showing as having been suspended or dismissed? It would have to be a recent  notation made to my records ... recently as in  2023 or 2024. I'll have to find out. Whatever the case, I view this type of action as retailiatory, to say nothing about the fact that this is akin to fake news, because I was not suspended or dismissed.  That said however, I don't put anything past  OU, not where I'm concerned anyway. Simply put, I grew to be an adult who is light years away from the person I was at 18, which is my way of saying: I grew up, and in that process, was unwilling to look the other way in the face of misconduct. And for that stance, I have paid a tremendous price, including, but not limited to, doing  battle with "Harvard on the Hocking."  For instance,  in recent years, I have continued to hold OU directly responsible for the events that transpired at Mt Zion (ie. the government take over of the church), and continue to assert that OU drove those unbelieveable events. So thats one  ongoing issue. In any case, just letting you know that this is the  latest drama.  I'll have to look into it, and will let you know what comes of it, but its all very serious because that sort of notation on a record can prevent me from continuing my studies, and I wouldnt  want that, because continuing eduation keeps me vibrant and is  extremely necessary if I am going to keep growing.  I'll let you know whats up tho, but until then, take it easy... easy like a Sunday morning.

I have always refused to look the other way in the face of misconduct... by or at the university, and nothing has or will change.

Did ya'll know they tore down most of the New South dorms? I think Dougan and Hoover are still there, but most of the other dorms are gone. Of course, Foster, Cady and Brough aka "the Projects," (lol)  went first. The other demo's were done over time. I actually have a video clip of the Foster, Cady and Brough demo as it was happening. Maybe I will post it some time. I talk over the video, but  it has to be edited. Anyway, I always said New South was an  experiment of some sort,  'cause you and I know  the way they had them "mods" aka modules set up didn't make no type a sense. None whatsoever. Anyway, they built them dorms up, then tore them dorms down. Waste of money don't you think? Funny how the College Green ( home to government and administration) never changes tho, but the  residential  and other areas keep evolving. Frankly, I think there's a subliminal message behind it all. That is, if the College Green represents government, and the dorms  and other buildings represent our communities, then the message is clear: government will never change, but your surroundings will, so don't get too comfortable.  Just a  theory. Ttyl

updated: Just fyi, the Old South ( as we knew it) is still  intact. As for what we called the "new south," they kept Wray, Dougan, True, Hoover, and Ewing, while several  new dorms were built. One is named for Arthur Carr, who, according to the university, was the first black student Athlete (circa 1903) to attend the university. The real  tea tho, is that the Carr family owned the land where Peden Stadium sits.   Thats news to me, although I know the west side was entirely black  during the 1800's and  early 1900's. In other words, we owned all of that land on the west side, which is why the church was on Carpenter and Congress. That was  a black residential neighborhood at that time.  That said, I have never been sure who or what ran nearly  everyone out of town, but many were afraid to return, and never did. And just fyi, I don't know how legit the real estate transfers were. In fact, I  would say some, if not all , was whack. Just look at how they got Mt Zion... 'nuff said.

Just sharing this so you can see first hand how pervasive the drug problem is in Athens. Although these arrests relate to events that transpired in Glouster and Nelsonville, its still Athens County. Moreover, the drug problem is just as big in  the City of Athens and on campus, so don't git it twisted.  One things for sure, Athens County is a far cry from what it was back in the day. Can I git an "amen?"

Below is a clip of the  Mt Zion Baptist Church sanctuary, taken just after I had the electric and gas meters re-installed, gas lines re-run and utilities restored. You may recall that the City of Athens condemned the church without standing  to do so ( absent a Building Department), and began  prepping it for demolition, thus the meters and piping had been removed. What a  great and victorious feeling it was to leave for Thanksgiving that year though (2016), knowing that heat and power had been restored at the church for the Winter holiday season and beyond. Unfortunately, around that same time, then Ohio Attorney General Mike De Wine ( now Governor Mike DeWine), had begun a campaign of harrassment and intimidation  that took the  form of certified letters commanding the church to register with the  state, pursuant to the Ohio Charitable Trust Act. Church's  however, are exempt from this filing requirement, and, although the state attorney general should have well known as much, either 'Big Homie' ( aka Mike DeWine) didn't get the memo, or 'Big Homie' chose to disregard it.

note: In July 2023, Ohio University hired former Assistant Attorney General Kristine Hayes to address allegations of Civil Rights violations at the university. Curiously, in July 2023, and shortly after Hayes employment at the university begins, "the head Negroes in charge" aka "friends of the state," and other "concerned citizens", decide to sell the church pews to the public as a fundraiser. Later, in November, 2023, the stained glass windows, (which had been intact for over 100 years and are valued at over $1 million dollars each ) were removed to , allegedly ,"be stored and leaded."
That these extreme acts coincide with Hayes arrival at the university however, and that these extreme acts constitute the dismemberment of our church and our history, are facts that are not lost... on those of us... who are woke.

December, 2023   (edited March 8, 2024)

Guess what?! Kristine Hayes has a new job! You may recall that Hayes is  the former Assistant Ohio Attorney General who filed "Ohio vs  Mt Zion," in the Athens County Court of Common Pleas ( ie. the civil action that allowed the state to seize control of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church). In any case, Hayes  now works for Ohio University as (hold onto your hats folks!!!): a Civil Rights Investigator!!!  Yep, per her  Linked In page, Hayes  has been employed with Ohio University since July, 2023.

That said, as a civil rights  investigator, Hayes is required to ( among other things):

"Conduct timely, objective, and thorough investigations of discrimination, harassment, and other claims filed with the Office of University Equity and Civil Rights Compliance."

Well isn't that special ?

I say baby gurl needs to start her investigatory process  with herself, since she didn't have standing in heaven or hell to file 'Ohio vs Mt Zion et al.' in the Athens County Court of Common Pleas. In so doing however, Hayes arguably crossed the line that separates church and state, and arguably pushed the governments hidden agenda regarding churches formed during segregation. Simply, and as previously discussed on this site, churches formed during segregation produced a powerful civil rights movement and the only leaders black America has ever known (namely Dr Martin Luther King Jr.); consequently, churches formed during segregation continue to be the most threatening institutions America has  ever known, thus, churches such as Mt Zion, have to be dismantled, less they produce a  black Messiah, or a repeat of the civil rights movement.  If this is indeed true though, if this is the governments hidden agenda  ( and I allege that it is), then it is  Hayes who, by and thru  'Ohio vs Mt Zion et al,'   pushed that hidden agenda on  governments behalf... and it is  Hayes... newly commissioned Civil Rights Investigator at Ohio University... that must go.
